Getting in Career Shape with Career Boot Camp

TheLadders, the most comprehensive job-matching service for career-driven professionals, in partnership with StreetWise Partners, launched its inaugural Career Boot Camp on Saturday in midtown Manhattan. The collaboration supported talent and economic growth in New York City for members of StreetWise Partners, which provides job-skills training and career mentoring for highly motivated candidates facing multiple employment barriers. The morning kicked off with opening remarks from Rahul Advani, chairman and one of StreetWise Partners’ founders, and Marc Cenedella, CEO and founder of TheLadders.

The event featured a panel discussion with Alex Douzet, President and co-founder, TheLadders; Ware Sykes, Vice President of Sales and Services, TheLadders; and StreetWise Partners’ board members Orlando Ashford, Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer, Marsh & McLennan Companies, and Singleton Beato, Senior Vice President, Diversity and Inclusion Strategy of Talent Development, American Association of Advertising Agencies.

“We are proud to celebrate our partnership with StreetWise Partners by hosting a Career Boot Camp to promote career preparation and success,” said Alex Douzet, President and co-founder of TheLadders, who co-presented with Cenedella a $10,000 donation to support StreetWise Partners. “Providing StreetWise Partners’ trainees access to our resume-writing experts enabled them to receive hands-on advice, while boosting their confidence.”

Following the panel, TheLadders’ career advisors and resume writers conducted workshops to provide one-on-one advice to trainees and mentors.  Topics included personal branding, effective networking and job applications.

“For the past two years, StreetWise Partners’ close partnership with TheLadders has provided support to our trainees’ efforts to build meaningful careers — not just their next jobs,” said Tracey Allard, Executive Director, StreetWise Partners. “This first-ever, collaborative Career Boot Camp gave trainees and alumni an opportunity to supplement their preparation with the best practices in career development and job-search techniques.”
